Gabrielle Chock was born in Honolulu, Hawai‘i.  She began studying ballet at age three, receiving most of her early training at Ballet Hawai‘i under Pamela Taylor-Tongg.   She continued her training at age fifteen with Magaly Suarez in Florida.  While in Florida, Ms. Chock had the opportunity to perform many lead roles such as Myrta in Giselle, Gamzatti in La Bayadere, Le Corsaire Pas de Deux, Paquita Pas de Deux, and Sugar Plum Fairy in the Nutcracker.  She spent several summers at The Carreno Dance Festival in Florida and at American Ballet Theatre’s Summer Intensive in New York City.

Ms. Chock’s awards include the Silver Medal at the Youth America Grand Prix in Los Angeles (2009) and the Youth Grand Prix Award in San Francisco (2010), the highest medal awarded in the Junior age division.  She then won the Bronze Medal in Indianapolis (2013) and competed five times as a Finalist at YAGP in New York City.  In 2014, she won the Bronze Medal at the South Africa International Ballet Competition. In addition, she was a Semifinalist at the USA International Ballet Competition in Jackson, Mississippi.

At seventeen years old, Ms. Chock was offered several professional ballet company contracts at The Joffrey Ballet, Washington Ballet, Cincinnati Ballet, and Tulsa Ballet, to name a few. She then pursued a BA in Political Science at the University of California Los Angeles (UCLA), where she continued her passion for dance through teaching and performing.  Ms. Chock is very excited to be back home and share her love for dance with the Punahou students.
