Program Details
Punahou Dance School is one of Honolulu’s largest dance studios for K – 12 students, offering a broad range of classes in ballet, jazz, tap, street dance and musical theatre and contemporary-modern dance. All classes are open to the public.
Our comprehensive program cultivates a student’s love for dance while providing a solid technical foundation for further artistic pursuits. Students develop skills such as discipline, creativity, perseverance, adaptability and empathy, which serve them throughout their lives, both in and out of the classroom. Our alumni have gone on to become professional dance artists and educators, as well as lifelong dancers and supporters of the arts.
All of our classes emphasize dance technique, musicality and performance quality. Beginning levels are designed for students with little or no prior training, introducing basic dance vocabulary and combinations. Students can remain at the beginning level for two or three years before progressing to intermediate levels where they focus on body placement, conditioning and more complex choreography. Advanced levels are intended for more serious dance students, and enrollment is by permission only.
