Punahou Alumni Association

Letter from the PAA President

April 1, 2020

Dear Alumni ‘Ohana,

I hope you and your ‘ohana are safe and well. While the new rules of social distancing keep us physically apart, these challenging times have shown me how strong we are as an alumni community.

Over the last weeks, I have been in awe of the sacrifice and strength shown by so many. Alumni have stood on the front lines of this crisis, gathered and created much-needed supplies, donated time and money, offered their homes for storage and safekeeping and lifted spirits and raised hopes with social media messages, music sessions and shared recipes. These acts of kindness and courage have fueled us all during these difficult times, and my personal thanks go out to all of you. Please continue to share these #PunsUnited stories online at

Our community is 30,000 strong and spread across the globe. As the world battles this pandemic, rest assured that we have each other. Punahou Alumni Association regional chapter leaders can connect you to each other and to the School. Watch the alumni home page for School-related updates and opportunities for virtual engagement and stay connected on social media, @punahoualumni.

Thank you to all of you for your part in “flattening the curve” and protecting the health and wellbeing of yourself and your community. I look forward to the day when we can gather once again and celebrate our love for Punahou and each other in person. Until then, please stay healthy and safe.

With aloha,
Leeanne Jim ’87 Phillips
PAA President 2019 – 2020
The Punahou Alumni Association (PAA) is a private nonprofit organization that exists to organize and participate in educational, social, and cultural programs that reach, connect and engage the Punahou Alumni community while supporting the core mission of Punahou School.
PAA is a private nonprofit organization, which works closely with Punahou School and the Office of Alumni Relations. The association was officially founded in 1906, though informal alumni meetings are documented as early as 1864. It has an elected Board of Directors through which its activities and services to alumni and the School are realized.

Membership is Automatic

Anyone who attended Punahou for at least one semester is already considered a member. There are no annual membership dues. Members need not have graduated from Punahou School, but must be part of a class year that has already graduated. Punahou Summer School alone does not qualify for membership.
