Aloha, Buff ‘n Blue ‘ohana!
I hope you and your family are safe and doing well. 2020 sure has thrown us some curveballs!
While we all are eager to put the coronavirus pandemic behind us, it’s also important to acknowledge its silver linings. Since March, our Punahou alumni ‘ohana has risen to the challenge of these times and come together in new and innovative ways.
Alumni health care workers have stood on the front lines of this crisis, buoyed by the support of others who have donated time, money and supplies. Some have given of their talents with food, music and art through virtual concerts, Punahou Sessions, mask-making and shared recipes. Our alumni have supported students with gifts to financial aid and as guest speakers in online classes. Reunion classes gathered virtually in Zoom meetings and at Punahou’s first-ever virtual lū‘au in June.
Our new normal will be different. We will emerge from this pandemic with a new appreciation for each other, for human connection and also for the technology that has kept us close through this time. We’ll use our new digital skills to reach even more alumni.
Punahou Alumni Association is here to connect our 30,000+ alumni – spread across the world – to each other and the School. Whatever you’re seeking – whether it’s our new online book club, a panel discussion of thought-leading alumni, professional networking or an alumni social event – we’ve got you.
Watch the alumni home page, punahou.edu/alumni, for School-related updates and opportunities for engagement, and join the conversation on social media, @punahoualumni.
I’m excited to represent Punahou alumni this year as Punahou Alumni Association president, and I look forward to connecting with you soon.
