O-Men

The Punahou O-Men is a charitable organization devoted to enhancing the Punahou students’ athletic experience.

Membership dues and additional fundraising efforts allow the O-Men to contribute to various athletic-related endeavors, including financial aid. O-Men activities also offer a venue for fellowship among former Punahou athletes.

In 2018, the O-Men exceeded its $175,000 fundraising goal set during the School’s 175th anniversary year. Members gathered at the new play structure near Bishop Hall which the O-Men gifted to the School. President Jim Scott ’70 and Junior School Principal Paris Priore-Kim ’76 joined O-Men officers and members to celebrate the group’s generosity.

Punahou Athletic Hall of Fame

Initiated in 1980 by the O-Men, and revived in 2008 by both O-Men and Pa‘ani, the Punahou Athletic Hall of Fame honors exceptional lifetime athletic achievement. Inductees have their names listed on the Hall of Fame koa plaque that hangs at the entrance of the Punahou Athletic Office.

Student Awards

Every year, the O-Men and Pa‘ani organizations jointly present athlete of the year awards to a sophomore boy and girl. Known as the Na Wahine Pa‘ani o Punahou/Punahou O-Men Award, this has been presented since 1992. Other Academy awards are:

  • C. Dudley Pratt Award - Senior Athlete of the Year (since 1969), preceded by the O-Men Senior Athlete of the Year Award (1957 – 1969)
  • McEldowney Matthias Award - Junior Athlete of the Year (since 1947)
  • Billy Weaver ’62 Award - Freshman Athlete of the Year (since 1959)
