Sports Programs

Punahou is a member of the Interscholastic League of Honolulu (ILH) and the Hawaii High School Athletic Association (HHSAA).

With over 140 teams competing in 21 different sports at intermediate, junior varsity and varsity levels, there is tremendous opportunity for participation. Sixty-two percent of the student body in grades 7 – 12 participate annually in athletics.

  • Punahou Football Clinic

    The Punahou Football Clinic features Punahou Varsity Coaches, former and current players. It is for boys and girls entering grades 2 – 8 in fall 2019. The 2019 clinic will take place on Saturday, July 20.

    Join us for the Winter Girls Soccer Camp on Tuesday, Dec. 27, 2022. Open to Punahou and non-Punahou students in grades 3 – 8. Register by Dec. 4, 2022.

  • Punahou Volleyball Clinic

    For Students Entering Grades 2 – 6
  • Punahou Cheerleading Clinic

    The Punahou Cheerleaders offer a clinic in September for students in grades 2 - 6 who have spirit and want to cheer. After the clinic, participants perform at a home football game.
  • Punahou Cross Country Invitational

    In October, the Punahou Cross-Country Invitational draws runners from across Hawai‘i to the school campus. Begun in 1956, the Invitational currently draws about 800 runners from more than 30 schools.
  • Clash of the Titans

    Canceled for 2020

    In April, this annual tournament serves as a competitive boys volleyball showcase for powerhouse teams from Hawai‘i and California. The two-day tournament matches Punahou and the Hawai‘i Division II champion against two top-ranked California teams, and is recognized as one of the premier tournaments in the country by ESPN Rise.
  • Punahou Boys Basketball Invitational

    This December basketball invitational, a long-standing tradition at Punahou, features a lineup of ILH and OIA teams from schools across the state, with visiting teams from the continental U.S. and other countries. The annual event is hosted at Hemmeter Fieldhouse.
  • Punahou Invitational Girls Wrestling Tournament

    Begun in 2010, this December wrestling tournament hosts high school wrestlers from public and private schools across the state, and features two-tiers of competition based on experience. Also known as the Pa‘ani Challenge, the tournament's mission is to raise awareness of girls wrestling and to increase opportunities for competition.
  • Punahou Relays

    Founded in 1946, the Punahou Relays is the longest-running track prep event in Hawai‘i. In April of each year, the meet brings together high-school athletes from across the state for two days of competition and fun.
