Summer Programs

Grades 1 – 8, Academy Non-Credit and Adult Courses

Although we will not be able to be together on campus this summer, we are excited to offer a new Summer Online Enrichment Program for current Punahou students who will be enrolled in grades 1 – 8 in the 2020 – 2021 school year. The Summer Online Enrichment Program will take place June 15 – July 17 and aims to reach as many students as possible within the broad range of needs represented in our community. While recognizing the value of connections with classmates, learning, and community, the offering will include the daily reinforcement of Math and English/Language Arts skills through synchronous and independent work.
Also included will be opportunities for students to flex their creative muscles through age-appropriate STEAM activities.

During scheduled synchronous class times, students will experience daily:

  • Check-ins with a homeroom teacher
  • Live instruction in math, literacy and STEAM
  • Independent work time with teacher support present
  • Group activities and sharing
More information about this new morning program, including sample schedules for planning purposes, afternoon opportunities, and Academy Non-Credit courses can be found in our updated catalog which will be posted on the Summer School website on Tuesday, May 5, at noon. All courses have no enrollment limits unless otherwise indicated in their description. Registration will begin on Friday, May 8, at noon, and will remain open through Tuesday, May 19.

Because the distance learning program differs significantly from the Summer School in-person program, all courses were dropped and families will not be billed for their original registrations. Billing for the new, optional Summer Online Enrichment Program, including afternoon enrichment activities, will be posted to students’ June Smart Tuition billing statements.

In addition to the fee-based programs, we will also be hosting weekly, free community connections events for all current Punahou students. These events will be designed to continue connections with familiar faces and places of Punahou and will include:

  • Daily live read alouds with faculty and staff
  • Ask an Archivist sessions
  • Mo‘olelo and Mele through Kuaihelani Learning Center
  • Campus creature check ins
  • Virtual campus visits, yoga, and more
A detailed schedule for these opportunities with login information will be published one week prior to the start of the summer program through the Summer School website.

We look forward to connecting with your children through a distance learning format this summer, and if you have any questions, please contact the Summer School Office at summerschool@punahou.edu.
