Grades 6, 7 and 8

The Case Middle School music program includes Music Explorations and ensemble experiences in band, choir and orchestra. All middle school students are required to participate in a music class of their choice.
The middle school band program includes grade level bands from 6th through 8th grade. Students who wish to join the band program may join a beginning winds, brass and percussion band in 7th grade. The combined 7th and 8th grade Concert Band includes all 8th grade students who have been playing since 5th grade and 7th grade students who have been selected via placement hearing.

The middle school choral program includes a 6th grade choir open to continuing choral students as well as those new to choral singing. In 7th and 8th grade, there are two choirs in each grade level: a mixed voice choir and a treble choir. Voice placements are conducted by choir directors each year for continuing students as well as those new to the program.

The orchestra program includes grade level orchestras from 6th through 8th grade. A 6th grade beginning orchestra is offered for students with no previous string instrument experience. Beginning in 7th grade, students are placed in an ensemble that best fits their current musical development on their instrument: a 7th grade orchestra, an 8th grade orchestra, or a combined 7th and 8th grade Advanced Orchestra.

Music Explorations is provided for students who enjoy a diverse experience in music without a performance element. Students have the opportunity to play ʻukulele, guitar, barred instruments and percussion, and deepen their understanding of music literacy, creativity and composition, and topics on music and culture.
