The Parent Experience
Parents are valued members of the Punahou community, partnering with the School in the development and growth of their children. Just as each child creates a unique journey through Punahou, exploring and honing individual interests and strengths, the parent role is also continually changing.
Parents at Punahou are encouraged to participate in the life of the School. From parenting young, elementary-aged children and participating in classroom-related experiences, parents continue their involvement with the School as children mature and become more independent.
The Parent Faculty Association (PFA), made up of parent volunteers, provides educational and volunteer opportunities for parents throughout the year, including support of the major events of the School such as Carnival, graduation and other traditional events, as well as welcoming new families through the Admission process or supporting teachers as room or grade-level parents. Programs focused on parent learning provide insight into curricular initiatives, educational research as well as parenting.
Parent philanthropic support of Punahou provides critical resources for School initiatives and programs, as well as capital projects and endowment. The confidence and trust of parents as expressed through giving participation is a valued attribute of Punahou.
