Creative Music

Punahou’s Creative Music courses are designed for small groups, allowing students to explore contemporary music arranging, composing and individual expression. Introduction to Creative Music Studio provides foundational experience with rock band instruments. Students then collaborate to arrange and perform songs live, while also learning basic studio recording techniques. Creative Music Studio extends these experiences by providing musical challenges to solve with a focus on live performance and analysis, imitation, and critique of other artists’ music. Students in Creative Music Studio explore songwriting and student led music making. The Rhythm Inside focuses on the element of rhythm to create, notate, and lead multipart rhythmic compositions through stick drumming with buckets. No prior musical experience is necessary to enter Creative Music classes.
