Punahou School will name its newest learning facility, the Mary Kawena Pukui Learning Commons, after the important and revered Hawaiian educator, scholar, composer and author: Mary Kawena Pukui (1895 – 1986).

This spring one of the world’s most celebrated photographers, Steve McCurry, visited Punahou as part of the School’s Creative Greats program, which is supported by the Class of 1950 Distinguished Speakers Fund.
When Alex Selarque found out iconic photographer Steve McCurry would visit Punahou in March, he sprang into action. “There is nobody like him,” says Selarque, who has been teaching visual arts at Punahou since 1996.
