Cabral ’97 Salem Family Endowed Financial Aid Fund

Kūlia i Ka Nu‘u (Strive for the Summit)
Lauren Cabral ’97 Salem and her family established this fund to express gratitude for the extraordinary opportunities of a Punahou education.
As one of the first recipients of the Dolores Furtado Martin Scholarship during her years at Punahou, Lauren experienced firsthand the incredible impact that financial support can have on a student’s educational path at Punahou and beyond.  Lauren graduated from Princeton University, where she met her husband Deeb Salem, and she continued her higher education, earning an MBA from Harvard Business School.  Lauren’s parents, Kathleen and Manny Cabral, who both devoted their careers to the students and academic community of Leeward Community College, instilled a tremendous appreciation for service and educational impact. Their family has always valued the Hawaiian saying Kūlia i Ka Nu‘u (Strive for the Summit) and through this Fund, they wish to foster a legacy of giving back by financially supporting Academy students, particularly those of Native Hawaiian ancestry with a strong academic record and encouraging them to strive for their highest aspirations.
