Brian Suite ’10 Student-Athlete Scholarship

Brian Suite ’10 was an avid outdoorsman and multi-sport athlete who enjoyed every minute of his 13-year journey through Punahou School. He was grateful for the experiences he had, the opportunities he was given and the friends he made. And he embraced the lessons he learned outside of the classroom – especially through Punahou’s Outdoor Education program, the Boy Scouts, community sports and Punahou Athletics.
Brian helped Punahou win three state championships in three different sports: football (2008), baseball (2009), and track and field (2010). He set individual and team records, including two state records, in the 4x100m Relay (Kamana, Suite, Pedrina, Zane). He was named the Most Outstanding Male Athlete at the Punahou Relays. And he received the Varsity Football Lokomaika‘i Award, which “honors the player who exemplified courage and selfless commitment to the team.”

In 2014, Brian earned a degree in Business Administration from Utah State University where he was a key part of the Winningest Senior Class in the History of USU Football with 30 wins in three seasons, including three bowl games. The following year, Brian turned pro and played in four NFL pre-season games as a safety for the Detroit Lions.

After retiring from competitive sports, Brian settled in Seattle and began a successful career in real estate where he enjoyed helping people find new homes and investments. He was especially proud to have introduced both the buyer and the seller to a land deal that included 50 home lots which would be the future home for 50 families. In 2020, Brian lost a valiant battle to a rare cancer. He was 28 years old.

The Brian Suite ’10 Student-Athlete Scholarship Fund is an endowed fund which honors the legacy of a beloved Punahou alum and a true Son of Oʻahu. The fund provides financial assistance to deserving students who participate in one or more varsity sports and demonstrate leadership, respect, and a commitment to excellence – some of the qualities that Brian brought into the classroom, onto the field and out to the community.

The fund invites and welcomes donations. And Brian’s family hopes it will grow large enough to cover tuition for a deserving student each year.
