Timothy Dang ’92 and Jana-Lynn Kam ’95 Family Endowed Financial Aid Fund

Music is the bridge that connects us to our history, our community, and to one another. For Punahou alumni Tim Dang ’92 and Jana Kam ’95, the music of Hawaiʻi has served as a lifelong anchor, tying them to their roots, their home, and the people they love. Tim’s musical journey began in early childhood, winding through the Punahou band and a self-taught passion for the guitar and ʻukulele. Years later, that passion became the connective tissue of their family’s story when Tim began offering Hawaiian slack key guitar (kīhōʻalu) lessons in the San Francisco Bay Area – which is exactly how he and Jana met.

When their son, Camden ’30, was born, those same Hawaiian melodies helped him form his very first connections to the place they call home. Deeply grateful to their own parents for the gift of a Punahou education, Tim and Jana established this endowment to pass that legacy forward and support students who share their profound love for musical expression. Because music bridges gaps and heals divides, their goal is to empower the next generation of Punahou students to explore, nurture, and share their passions with the community and the world.
