After School Care

After School Care (ASC) provides after school supervision for Punahou students in Kindergarten – grade 5 in a safe and nurturing environment.

After School Care is offered to Punahou students ONLY.

Program Dates for 2019 – 2020
Fall semester 8/14/19 – 12/18/19
Spring semester 1/7/20 – 5/27/20

A teacher and an assistant are in charge of each group of children. Activities include quiet games, reading, assistance with homework, arts and crafts, enrichment activities, outdoor games, free play and creative play, and time to relax or rest. A variety of fruit juices or milk is served along with nutritious snacks each afternoon.

Days, Times and Fees

After School Care is available every day that the Junior School is in session, Monday through Friday except Carnival Friday.

See the course catalog or registration application for specific times and fees.

Punahou’s After School Care Program is fully licensed by the State of Hawai‘i Department of Human Services. The program is annually reviewed and licensed by the State. The current license is available for your inspection in the ASC Office. State licensing requires a staff to child ratio of 1:20. The ASC ratio is often lower, as many children participate in enrichment activities on campus or are enrolled on a part-time basis and attend fewer than five days a week.

ASC staff consists of regular Punahou staff, college students, Academy students and other qualified personnel.

Escorting K – Grade 3

Kindergarten – grade 3 students who are enrolled in ASC will be escorted to and from Aquatics, Dance, HĀ, Karate, Language, Music, and Tennis. If your K – grade 3 child is enrolled in any other activities (e.g., wrestling, tutoring, robotics, etc.), please make arrangements to have your child walked to and from ASC. Unfortunately, our ASC staff and schedule cannot accommodate these additional activities. Due to distance, there is also no escorting to Montague for music lessons prior to 3 p.m. If your child is in K – grade 3 and enrolled in the Music School, please ensure that their lesson begins at 3 p.m. or later, unless you can make other arrangements for safe escort.
