Jennifer J.S. Lee Endowed Fund for Psychosocial Education

This endowed fund is established in honor of Jennifer Jung Sook Lee by her son Robert Lee ’07. Jennifer passed away in 2006 and did not live to see Robert and his brother Kevin ’11 graduate from Punahou. Robert, Kevin, and their father Kit will never forget Jennifer’s unending love and kindness.
Jung Sook Park was born in Seoul, Korea on September 23, 1959. Her father was the president of a large chemical company and later was a Presbyterian Church minister, and her loving mother was a busy homemaker raising Jung Sook and her two brothers. Jung Sook was an excellent student and enjoyed reading, playing the piano, singing, visiting museums, and skiing. In 1980, Jung Sook graduated from Ewha Womans University with high honors and started working for the one of the first e-mail companies in South Korea. She met and married Kit Man Lee in 1985, taking Jennifer Jung Sook Lee as her American name. In 1989, Jennifer gave birth to her first son, Robert, in Seoul and moved to Hawai`i. In 1993, she gave birth to her second son, Kevin. Jennifer sent both Robert and Kevin to attend school at Punahou, insistent to provide her children with the best education possible.
Jennifer relentlessly cared for her family while suffering in silence from anxiety and depression. By endowing this fund to benefit psychosocial education, this fund intends to foster a compassionate environment at Punahou for students to learn about mental health and wellness and to dispel old notions of stigma and shame. Her family hopes to inspire a future generation of students to care for themselves and for each other.
