In his sophomore year, Wendy was Punahou's number one half-miler and miler. Then, in his junior year, as co-captain of the track squad, he awed track circles by running the 100-yd dash, the 880, the mile and the mile relay in the annual ILH Meet. By this time he was referred to as “Punahou's One Man Track Team”. Also, in his junior year he won the first Crozier Medal for Best Performance in the Cornell Relays. His achievements again won him a place on the ILH All-Star Team.

As a senior he again co-captained the track squad and achieved All-Star honors by winning the 440 and 880 events and running anchor on the winning mile relay team in the annual ILH meet. He was also a repeat winner of the Crozier Medal for his performance in the Cornell Relays.

Following the Cornell and ILH meets, he joined the ILH All-Star Team which participated in the 1954 Rainbow Relays. He was a member of the team which won the 2-mile and medley relay events. During his career in track he won four letters – as a freshman, sophomore, junior and senior.

His outstanding performance in football in his sophomore, junior and senior years won him an additional three letters. As a half-back on offense and safety on defense, he starred on the 1953 championship team and was one of the leading ground gainers in the ILH, feats which won him 2nd Team All-Star honors. As a junior and senior, he was a member of the Hula Bowl Keiki-Kane/Keiki-Alii Football Teams.

He attended Oregon State College on an athletic scholarship, where he played freshman football and ran on the track team. Transferring to UC Berkeley and with one year of eligibility left, he made the varsity football team. He claims to have distinguished himself during practice as a part time stand-in for some the U.C. football greats of the late fifties.

In Honolulu he embarked on a highly successful career in the real estate and property management profession.
