How We Buff ’n Blue

We Care!

During the 2021 – 2022 school year, almost 400 employees (more than half of our full and part-time faculty and staff) made a philanthropic gift to the School, an amazing reflection of dedication and love for Punahou.
The volunteers behind our faculty and staff giving efforts are the Heart of Punahou Employees (HOPE) Committee. HOPE’s mission is to engage faculty and staff in supporting Punahou’s funding priorities. Faculty and staff giving is an important part of our community showing that our employees believe in Punahou’s mission and leadership. Each gift is a vote of confidence and an investment in the stability of the School, helping create a campus community where faculty and staff feel valued and appreciated.
Punahou Faculty and Staff have increased their participation in giving by 50% over the past four school years!
HOPE volunteer and Co-Chair Nelson Uyemura ’93, Punahou Cafeteria Administration Manager, current parent, and loyal donor for 11 years, explained to a gathering of Punahou faculty and staff donors: “When you stop and think about it, what makes Punahou so great is the teachers and staff who take the time to do a little extra. Not because it’s expected of them, but because they want to. By giving from your heart, it can make a huge difference to someone else. We learn from the examples of those we respect and love, and that is why I give back to Punahou.”
