Dr. Hieu T. Ball ’83 Family

The Dr. Hieu T. Ball ’83 Family Endowed Financial Aid Fund was established in 2018 by Hieu Ball ’83 in recognition of his 35th Class Reunion at Punahou School.
The power of writing pervades every aspect of our lives, allowing us to share important ideas and creativity. The written word is critical in our daily lives, regardless of our chosen profession, specialty or discipline. One’s writing ability and style are among the most important skills to be developed, key parts of an elite Punahou education. From the time I took Humanities, I kept a journal. It was my confidante through college, medical school and residency; and the journal remains with me today. It continues to play a formative role in my evolving life.

In forming this Endowed Financial Aid Fund, my hope and vision are to support and inspire students who value writing as much as I did during my time at Punahou. The power of the pen (or, nowadays, a laptop or other input device!) is a potent force, allowing us to connect with one another and shape our world locally and globally.
