Ever wonder how to 'be there' for a friend or family member during difficult moments in life? We often try to cheer up a person or change the flow of the moment with terms like, "well at least" or "just be grateful…" However, most times we are really at a loss as to what to say or do. Do you wonder how we are helping our students to learn empathy skills in order to 'be there' for their friends during challenging situations? Through the use of written materials, multimedia and in-class discussions, we will explore ways that we can be a caring presence for others. This two-hour session is open to all. You will only need an open mind, heart and spirit. Chaplain George Scott was inspired to take this journey with you following his recent experience teaching Chaplaincy students at Yale Divinity School and looks forward to sharing what he learned.
