Ikaika Jobe

Director of Tennis
Boys Varsity Tennis Head Coach

A 2001 Punahou graduate, Jobe was High School State Singles Champion (1999 and 2001). He played for Saint Louis University (2001 – 2004) and was team captain (2003 – 2004) before playing for Boise State University (2004 – 2005), the 2005 WAC Champions. Jobe competed internationally on the ITF and ATP tours for 3 years and is a five-time ITF International Doubles Champion (and four-time Finalist). He is also a five-time Kailua Night Doubles Champion (2004, 2009, 2010, 2014, 2016). Jobe was Volunteer Assistant Coach - University of Hawai‘i Men’s Tennis Team (2009 – 2013), the WAC Champions in 2009 and 2010. He was Head Coach - Punahou Girls Varsity Tennis (2013 – 2015), Head Coach - Punahou Boys Varsity Tennis (2016 – current), and USPTA “Player of the Year” (2013 – 2015).

Lee Couillard

Assistant Tennis Director

A past president of USPTA Hawaii Division, Couillard is a Certified USPTA Tester, USPTA Elite Certified Professional and has a USPTA "Little Tennis" Certification (2002). He was awarded USPTA "Pro of the Year" in 2007 and 2008, and is a USTA Hawaii National 10 and under Tennis Faculty, Trainer. Couillard has previously been ranked #1 in Hawaii USTA Men's 30, 35, 40, and 45 and over.

Couillard has worked at Punahou since 1988.

John Dye

Dye has competed at the USTA 18 & over 4.5 Team Nationals four times. He served as Head Varsity Tennis Coach for both Boys and Girls teams at Kalani High School 2014 – 2016, and received Coach of theYear honors three times.

Ben Erickson

Tennis Faculty

Erickson previously taught for the City and & County and State of Hawaii, and received the USPTA 2006 Community Service Award.

Pam Kim

In her time at Punahou, Kim has been Girls' Intermediate Coach, Girls' Varsity Coach, and a Tennis Instructor in the After School Tennis Program. She previously coached at UCLA Bassett-Martin Tennis Camp, Los Angeles, California and Marymount High School, Los Angles, California

Before coaching at Punahou, Leong coached Varsity boys and JV girls at Radford High School.

Fumiya Nakano

Girls JV Tennis Assistant Coach

A 2008 Punahou graduate, Nakano went on to earn a BS in Kinesiology from University of Hawaii. She is an ACSM Certified Personal Trainer, and has earned the Mike McKinnon Sportsmanship award and USPTA Volunteer of the Year.

Nakano has worked at Punahou since 2008.

Jason Oliver

Boys Intermediate Tennis Coach
Girls Varsity Tennis Assistant Coach

A 1993 Punahou graduate, Oliver played on the Punahou Varsity Team, continuing on to play at the University of Redlands (NCAA Div. III) from 1993 – 1997. He was First Team All Southern California Interscholastic Athletic Conference (1995, 1996, 1997), All American Singles and Doubles (1996) and Team Captain (1997). Oliver was also Tennis Professional, All California Tennis Camp (Barsinghausen, Germany spring and summer 1998, summer of 1999).

Roberta Russo

Girls Varsity Tennis Coach

Russo started playing tennis at age 5 and began competing in Italy in her teens and travelled all the world. Graduating college with a degree in sport management, she coached and taught at various tennis facilities in Naples, Italy, as well as at the Sanchez-Casal Academy in Barcelona, Spain.

Formerly ranked as high as 900 on the Women's tour, Russo is a FIT (Italian Tennis Federation) and ITF (International Tennis Federation) coach.

Thomas Shubert

Boys Varsity and Boys Intermediate Tennis Assistant Coach

Attended Punahou for several years as a younger student, Shubert eventually went on to play tennis under full scholarship at Brigham Young University Cougars (Provo, UT) and competed as #1 singles and doubles player for Division I. Ranked in the ATP professional singles rankings for five years, he is a former hitting partner for Pete Sampras, Venus and Serena Williams, Michael Chang, John McEnroe, Jim Courier, Milos Raonic, Sloane Stephens, Sam Querrey, and Donald Young. Shubert coached high performance juniors in California that went on to play tennis for Columbia, USC, Cornell, Colgate, Boise State, Santa Clara, U of South Carolina, UCSB, and WashU St. Louis. He was also an international tennis journalist for several years, and worked in Operations with InsideOut Sports Entertainment for two seasons.

Betsy Somerville

Girls Varsity Tennis Head Coach

Somerville competed on the WTA tour (1991-1992) and played each of the four Grand Slam events in women's doubles. She achieved NCAA Division 1 rankings of #1 in doubles and #29 in singles, earning All American honors as a member of the University's tennis team, and was also a former #1 women's open and junior player in Hawaii.

George Tsai

Tennis Faculty

Formerly ranked in the top 20 (Boys 14 & under), top 30 (Boys 16 & under), and top 40 (Boys 18 & under) in the state of Florida, Tsai was also ranked in the top 100 in the nation (Boys 14 & under). He played NCAA Division III tennis at Amherst College and was captain during senior year.

Fred Wong

Associate Tennis Professional

A USPTA Certified P3 Coach, Wong previously held positions including Mililani Boy's Varsity Head Coach and Head of Manoa Valley tennis program.
