Capstone: Alaska

June 26, 2017

“Today, the students and staff of Goldbelt’s Heritage Foundation’s High School Marine Science Academy Camp arrived at the University of Alaska Southeast,” wrote chaperone Uncle Kekaulike P’25, P’28. “In the afternoon, we were asked to join them. The UAS Chancellor, Dr. Richard Caulfield, warmly greeted us and shared his excitement and expectations for this year’s Summer Camp.”

The students were welcomed to a special ceremony and blessing of a log that will be made into a totem using traditional practices over the next year.

“The connection between Southeast Alaska and Hawaiʻi remains a very unique and timeless connection,” wrote Kekaulike.
