“At around 9 a.m., we arrived at the Enterprise Precinct and Innovation Campus (EPIC), and met with Kaila Colbin, a Riverdale alum and Ministry of Awesome founder, who works to rebuild and reimagine the city,” wrote Michael ‘18. “She emphasised how one person can make an impact in this city, because it is like a blank slate, and that this opportunity is present only in Christchurch.”

“We also came upon a couple of play areas, the most notable of which was the Margaret Mahy playground, which was huge! It had tunnels, two-story-high slides, trampolines and zip-lines,” wrote Michael ‘18.

“Finally, we bussed to Cultivate, an urban garden in the middle of Christchurch, and learned about what they were trying to do: improve food independence and sustainability in the city, while involving the community.”
