The group visited the Blue Water Dam powerhouse today, which “was actually overfilled right now because of the rain, wrote Luke Withy-Berry ’16. “We had a dam good time.”

“A major topic of the trip has been the environment, and the problems that mankind has wrought on nature here in Alaska. We have covered global warming, overfishing, hatcheries and whaling. As far as the dam is concerned, we only saw the environmental impact from the dam staff’s perspective. The local lake, Blue Lake, which is used for the town’s clean water supply, was raised 83 feet to accommodate the creation of the dam.”
