“Alaska is a very patriotic state,” wrote Sarah Jane Worrall ’16. “However, the Fourth of July is on a whole new level. Everyone goes out celebrating American independence. It takes them two whole days!”

“Juneau’s fireworks show lasted a whole 25 minutes. After considering the differences in the fireworks display between Hawai‘i and Juneau, I found that the Juneau fireworks display could potentially be harmful to the environment and therefore ourselves.”

“We ventured into downtown Juneau after the processions concluded. We were able stroll around downtown, shop, and enjoy a beautiful day spending time with the group. The afternoon also entailed a dip in the lake right by the college, where we all enjoyed a refreshingly chilly end to a long, relaxing day.”
