“Juneau is not on an island but its isolation makes it seem as if it is; Alaska’s capital city is only accessible by water and air,” explained Emily Nishimura ’16.

After adventuring through a forest just outside of Juneau, the group made their way to a labyrinth, which prompted thoughts of Punahou’s Chaplain Lauren Medeiros. “Both she and a world renowned labyrinth designer (Lars Howlett) inspired us last year with their passion, sharing during Chapel and providing first-hand experience with labyrinths set up across Punahou School campus. Unlike a maze, a labyrinth has a set path leading to the center, leaving the walker’s mind with an opportunity to wander without worrying about speed and direction.”
