Global Education Teacher Strand

Intersecting with Punahou‘s Student Global Leadership Institute, this workshop gathers a cohort of educators for four days of learning, exploring and designing globally focused curriculum. The collaboration begins by defining the essentials of global education and working together on projects to implement in participants’ schools.

2017 Workshop

The collaboration begins by defining the essentials of global education. Exploring personalized, product-oriented global learning, attendees work together on participant school projects through a facilitated design process, and finalize shared and individual action plans. During the workshop, participants may also have the opportunity to connect with students participating in the Student Global Leadership Institute to observe and interact with student experiences around global change-making.

Thirty-eight educators from Hong Kong, New Zealand, Denmark and beyond gathered for the third annual Global Education Teacher Strand, which ran from July 28 – 30, 2015. The workshop, which coincides with the Student Global Leadership Institute (SGLI), explores themes in global education and aims to equip teachers as they prepare students to work in an international context.

2014

Fifty educators from around the world gathered for the second annual Global Education Teacher Strand, an on-campus workshop which ran from July 28 – 31, 2014. The program, which intentionally coincides with the two-week Student Global Leadership Institute, began as an initiative to gather the insights and perspectives of the teachers accompanying SGLI participants. It has since evolved into a forum for discussion and action planning for teachers interested in integrating a global perspective into their school environments.
