Global Education Teacher Strand

Intersecting with Punahou‘s Student Global Leadership Institute, this workshop gathers a cohort of educators for four days of learning, exploring and designing globally focused curriculum. The collaboration begins by defining the essentials of global education and working together on projects to implement in participants’ schools.

2017 Workshop

The collaboration begins by defining the essentials of global education. Exploring personalized, product-oriented, global learning, attendees work together on participant school projects through a facilitated design process, and finalize shared and individual action plans. During the workshop, participants also learn about Student Global Leadership Institute (SGLI) and observe student sessions.

The four-day Global Education Teachers Strand brought together educators from Hong Kong, Jordan, Sweden and beyond to explore themes in global education. During the fourth annual workshop, which took place July 20 – 26 and coincided with Student Global Leadership Institute (SGLI), teachers discussed, explored and designed globally focused curricula.

Thirty-eight educators from Hong Kong, New Zealand, Denmark and beyond gathered for the third annual Global Education Teacher Strand, which ran from July 28 – 30, 2015. The workshop, which coincides with the Student Global Leadership Institute (SGLI), explores themes in global education and aims to equip teachers as they prepare students to work in an international context.

2014

Fifty educators from around the world gathered for the second annual Global Education Teacher Strand, an on-campus workshop which ran from July 28 – 31, 2014. The program, which intentionally coincides with the two-week Student Global Leadership Institute, began as an initiative to gather the insights and perspectives of the teachers accompanying SGLI participants. It has since evolved into a forum for discussion and action planning for teachers interested in integrating a global perspective into their school environments.
