New Perspectives on Teaching Mathematics

This active workshop seeks to gain deeper understanding of how K – 5 students can become confident mathematicians. Participants learn in an environment where mathematics is seen as the posing and solving of problems, the searching for patterns, and the construction of ideas, models and strategies.

2014 Workshops

New Perspectives on Teaching Mathematics was comprised of two, two-day workshops, Developing a Landscape of Learning: Multiplication and Division, and Analyzing, Crafting and Implementing Mini-Lessons. Led by Catherine Fosnot, a leading math education expert, public and private K – 12 teachers came together to gain a deeper understanding of how to teach math in a contextualized, project-based manner.
