Pierre Omidyar '84

Recognizing his profound impact, extraordinary service, remarkable vision and generous contributions to Hawai‘i and around the world. Omidyar is the founder and chairman of eBay, and he and his wife Pam have been recognized by Barron's as the leaders of “high impact giving.” Last year, the Omidyars granted the Hawai‘i Community Foundation $50 million, believed to be the largest single gift from a living donor in the state’s history. The investment will be used to start several community initiatives during the span of six years, as well as to support the Omidyars’ ongoing interests through the foundation’s Omidyar ‘Ohana Fund. In addition, $6 million of this gift will be awarded to Punahou School as a six-year challenge grant, to be matched by other donors, to support the construction and operations of the Omidyar K – 1 Neighborhood.
