Independently and in partnership with others, the Institute will host or sponsor a variety of learning opportunities for local, national and global educators. Such programs may include speakers, workshops, classroom observations, and investigations with other teachers.

Brain Symposium @ Punahou
This two-day symposium is held in mid-June, featuring a keynote speaker and a series of workshops on a theme devoted to brain-based education. More about the Brain Symposium

Lab School @ Punahou
The Lab School invites educators to participate in a one-week experience working with other teachers in a cohort group exploring a particular topic. The week includes classroom observations and collaborative discussions while cohort members each develop a plan or strategy to implement in the classroom. The goal is to test and explore methods and ideas while providing an arena for self-challenge. More about Lab School

Wo International Center Teacher Programs
Wo International Center organizes programs to explore the curricular opportunities related to global education. Summer 2013 offerings include a Lab School cohort and Flat Classroom Live!

Additionally, it has led Teacher Institutes since 2002. These sessions build cross-cultural understanding and a collaborative network for teachers, whether designed for teachers from selected international school systems or offering international gatherings of American and foreign teachers.

Service Learning Teacher Institute
SLTI is presented by Luke Center for Public Service for educators from public and private schools. The program aims to help teachers develop curricula related to service leaning.

Prior year themes have addressed ways to bring healthy and locally grown foods into the classroom and “Innovation and Entrepreneurship in the Classroom.”  The 2011 institute, held on February 10, was a collaboration with Kokua Hawaii Foundation and Sustainable UH, with the theme, “Waste Not, Watt Not.”
