George Scott and Timothy Dyke

George Scott
The Rev. George Scott hails from Detroit, the Motor City. He received a bachelor's degree in Industrial Relations from Michigan State University, a master's in business management from Central Michigan University and a master's in divinity from Chicago Theological Seminary.

In 1989, he moved to Honolulu and spent a year as a hospital chaplain at Queen's Medical Center. He then devoted 15 years of service as the youth minister and senior associate minister at Central Union Church.

When he came to Punahou as a chaplain, Scott had already been coaching the defensive line of the football team for many years, something he continues to take pride in doing. Currently, Scott is pursuing his doctorate in counseling and pastoral care from San Francisco Theology Seminary.

A busy man with many passions and interests, Scott is also a photographer - he recently traveled to South Africa with Teachers Without Borders as a photojournalist - and a father of four: George Jr., Tiffani, Wesley '03 and Rachel '06.

Timothy Dyke
Tim Dyke was born into a family of physicians and lived in two countries and seven states before he was 14. Dyke was educated at Deerfield Academy in Deerfield, Mass., and Wesleyan University, where he earned a bachelor's in English with honors and a master's in liberal studies. He taught sixth grade in the Farmington Unified School District in Connecticut for two years before moving to Texas, where he became the first and only English teacher at the independent K - 7 John Cooper School in suburban Houston.

When he moved to Hawai‘i in 1992, Dyke had never lived anywhere for longer than four years, but after 17 years on this island, he speculates that perhaps Punahou was the place where he was destined to land.

Dyke has taught English, coached speech and debate and boys cross-country, directed the Variety Show, managed Academy Summer School, and served on committees focused on issues ranging from curriculum development to assessment to academic honesty and personal integrity.

In 2008, Dyke joined the chapel faculty where he and chaplain George Scott develop programs and teach lessons for Academy chapels. When not teaching, Tim enjoys fiction writing, movie watching and spending time with friends and his pet parrots.
