Punahou School has planned a new kindergarten/first-grade (K-1) learning environment that
will combine the rejuvenation of historic Wilcox Hall, with new
classroom communities, play and garden areas and an outdoor
amphitheater. Punahou's ongoing commitment to green environments,
renewable energy and sustainable living will play an integral role, not
only in design, construction and operation, but also in the overall K-1
curriculum.
The planning and development of the new Omidyar K-1 Neighborhood has been a thoughtful process, producing a design that will best suit the needs of our youngest students. The site plan includes 5 new buildings, with 12 new classrooms overall. Each classroom measures 1,020 square-feet, with a 350 square-foot lanai. Plans also include a new dedicated P.E. Pavillion and the renovation of Wilcox Hall, featuring areas for art and music, and a new Creative Learning Center, as well as housing administration, offices and a health room.
