Convocation
School doesn't begin for students at Punahou until they are addressed at the annual Convocation, held on the morning of the first day of school. Gathering at Alexander Field, the welcome back celebration consists of encouraging speeches and thoughtful comments from Punahou's president, principals, chaplains and other special guests.

Lacy Veach Day
The annual Astronaut Lacy Veach Day of Discovery honors the life of the late Charles Lacy Veach, a 1962 Punahou graduate who served for fourteen years as a pilot in the US Air Force and went on to fly two NASA space shuttle missions. Each year on that day, about 400 public and private-school students and 200 parents from across the state convene on Punahou’s campus to participate in hands-on learning through a variety of science-based workshops, exhibits and demonstrations.

Sustainability Fair
On April 20, 2007, a new Punahou tradition was born. The Sustainability Fair, once held at the Luke Center for Public Service, has since grown to a campus-wide event. Now held on Rice Field and the Chapel area, hundreds of people show their support as Punahou strives to fulfill its 2016 Sustainability Challenges in reducing water, waste, energy, transportation and food.

May Day and Holoku
The 1960s marked the beginning of the annual Holoku Pageant. Hundreds of seniors volunteer to pay tribute to the history of the Hawaiian Islands through an exciting sequence of ancient and modern hula and chants during two evening Holoku performances.

Baccalureate and Commencement
Commencement week begins with Baccalaureate, a farewell address delivered to Punahou's graduating class and typically held at the historic Central Union Church. Parents are recruited to help with preparations, including the making of the garland that beautifully decorates the front of the church balcony.
