Punahou School announced today that Jim Iams, head coach of Punahou's girls varsity volleyball program, has decided to retire from his position. Iams was appointed girls volleyball head coach in 2006 after coaching at Oregon State and Georgia.
"I have enjoyed the four years and would like to thank the Punahou community, especially the parents and the kids, for this opportunity to coach," said Iams.
Punahou Athletic Director Jeaney Garcia lauded Iams for his complete dedication to the sport. "He brought volleyball within the ILH and the state to the highest levels of excellence," said Garcia. "We deeply appreciate his service to the Punahou and Hawai'i communities."
The school plans to post an announcement of the position within the week on the school Web site.
