Earning the highest score of 5 on any AP exam is cause for celebration. Well, the results are in: out of last year’s seniors from the Class of 2017, all 57 students who took the AP Calculus BC test earned a 5 on his or her exam. AP Calculus BC is the second of two courses of AP Calculus offered at Punahou.

“Nationally this happens very rarely,” said Janet Chang '78 Oshiro, a mathematics faculty member. “Teachers Susie Cooling '72 Field and Mitch Krulewich should be recognized for their hard work with students, along with the rest of the Math Department, and the great results.”

I am so proud of Susie and I know how hard she works and hows much she loves it and how fortunate she is to have such great students that work as hard as she does. Congratulations to all and to Mitch. – Margaret Cooling
