First Call for 2007 Kona Safari

Department: Athletics

By Rick Humphreys ’90
2005-2006 O-Men President

Our summer hibernation was only temporary as Easton Manson ’91 led the O-Men campaign to raise $15,000 to assist student athletes with their travel expenses for the Seattle Labor Day weekend activities. We are pleased to report that we exceeded our goal, so many thanks to all who contributed to the effort.

Don’t forget to mark your calendars for the 2007 Kona Safari scheduled for January 26-28, 2007. Brad Nicolai ’93 and Chris Eldridge ’87 are perfecting their grilling techniques for even better grinds, and Scott May ’56 is logging our supply inventory. Meanwhile, the request by J.P. Damon ’80 for valet service and 100 pounds of ice will be taken to the board level. We can only accommodate around 30 pickers, and last year we maxed out, so if you’re interested, please contact Randy Kam ’76.

Our O-Men monthly meetings have begun and we encourage anyone interested to come on by the Pacific Club for lunch on the first Monday of every month. Remember, ‘first-timers” who are interested in joining or participating in the O-Men get a free lunch.

We also look forward to hosting more socials for Punahou sporting events. It’s a great way for us to interact with the teams, parents, and coaches, and also an opportunity to watch some high-level high school athletics.

Should you have any questions regarding the O-Men, please contact us:
