Punahou athletics teams are sometimes afforded the valuable opportunity of traveling to the mainland for games and tournaments. The following is a record of some of those experiences.
The team overcame many challenges today in a fantastic win. This wrapped up an exciting tournament and was a great way to finish the trip.
On day 3 of the tournament, the team battled hard against West Campus in an intense game. The girls fought to the end and earned some fun time at the mall.
The team had fun shopping, bonding and enjoyed an NBA game on their free day. The time flew by quickly as the girls laughed and grew closer.
The boys played in the championship game against Piedmont to roaring crowds. The two teams played beautifully, and the game was 70-70 with just a few seconds left in the final quarter.
After an early morning run and energetic second game, the team enjoyed a relaxing bonding experience at the women's ASU game vs. Marquette. Sparky, the sun devil, shared some team spirit with the girls.
The Boys Varsity Basketball team headed to California to play in the tournament at Piedmont High School. They got off to a good start against Justin Siena High School from Napa with a win, 69 – 40. The second game against Bentley went well also
On the first day of the tournament, the girl's faced a 3-point shooting team. Battling difficult weather changes and sore throats, the team fought hard.
The Girls Varsity Basketball team landed in chilly Arizona late at night on Thursday. After a midnight run to Denny's, the girls headed off to sleep at the Arizona Resort and Spa. Looking forward to an exciting tournament!

Girls basketball schedule in the Nike Tournament of Champions is now available. Punahou plays in the Mike Desper Division. First game is Friday, December 18 at 2:30 p.m. against La Salle (OR) at Mesquite High School. Complete Mike Desper Bracket.
The boys varsity basketball team will be travelling to California in December to participate in the Piedmont Invitational Basketball Tournament, Thursday - Saturday, December 17 - 19, 2015, and play against Del Oro High School on Monday, December 21.
The girls team travels to Phoenix, AZ for the Nike Tournament of Champions, Friday - Tuesday, December 18 - 22, 2015.
The day began at 6:30 a.m. - our last practice in Oregon. Another cold morning turned into a special event.
Day 3 of our training trip was busy, tiring, enlightening and fun. We started with a 4:45 a.m. wake-up call in order to be in the water at 5:30 to train with the senior group of the Corvallis Aquatic Team.
Greeting from cold and damp Oregon - sounds a little like Hawai‘i right now. Fortunately, spirits around us are anything but cold and damp.The first full day was long but enjoyable. The day began with a light dry-land workout in one of the hotel's conference rooms.
Seventeen swimmers headed off to Portland, Oregon on November 18 for an opportunity to experience a variety of college swim experiences.
The Punahou Boys Cross Country team represented by 12 runners participated in the Stanford Cross Country Invitational on September 26. Joined by one representative of the Girls Cross Country team, these athletes enjoyed a challenging experience.
After winning both rounds on Friday, the Punahou team advanced to the semifinals on Saturday against Menlo High School, last year’s #1-ranked team in Northern California.
For the first annual Golden State Tennis Classic held at Stanford and Menlo College, Punahou brought 11 players and 4 coaches. The players are from 9th – 12th grade, 7 of whom were on Punahou's varsity team last year. This team traveled to Palo Alto, California to compete against 15 other varsity teams. The competition is two days long and starts on Friday; two team matches a day consisting of 4 singles and 3 doubles.
The boys and girls Varsity Golf teams traveled together to Scottsdale, Arizona, to participate in the Antigua National High School Invitational, featuring 24 boys teams and 18 girls teams from across the nation and Canada.
At breakfast this morning James Kakos and Coach Kale spoke to the boys about last night, reiterating how proud they were of the team for the resilience they showed and persistence in the face of adversity.
After a late night on Thursday the boys slept in this morning. The coaches wanted them well rested and off their feet.
This morning the team headed to Berkeley, where they were able to walk through the stadium where they will play tomorrow. Everyone was busy taking photos when Semisi Uluave '15 walked in to greet them.
The Stanford Athletic Department hosted the team to an 'ono barbecue lunch near Maples Pavilion. Speaking to the boys was Luke Kaumatule '12.
This morning the team landed in Oakland at 7:30, after a five hour flight from Honolulu. With two mechanical delays and spent time in three boarding gates, it was a 14 1/2 hour day.
How do you know it's a Punahou sports trip? The sophomores have to take a Geometry test while waiting to board the plane.
