Today, the orchestra students continued to their final destination on the trip―Guangzhou, the capital of the Guangdong province in China.
Before leaving Foshan, however, students visited a martial arts school. The performance that was put on for the orchestra made some students gasp and cover their eyes during certain demonstrations. Some of the martial arts students broke huge wood and metal poles using their arms and legs. The younger students, no older than 7 or 8, could jump in the air and land in a split. Despite the downright painful exercises, the martial arts students were happy to perform and show off the amazing skills that they had learned.
After the performance, Punahou students were taught basic moves, and had time to meet and take pictures with the other students. As everyone said their goodbyes and walked to the bus, some orchestra members could be heard asking if they could come back the next day or even enroll in the school themselves in order to learn the martial arts moves that they had just seen.
