Steven Casano

Instructor (Private/Group Piano)

MA (University of Hawaii at Manoa), MLISc (University of Hawaii at Manoa), BM (Crane School of Music, SUNY Potsdam).

Major teachers include Frank Iogha and Rose Tanner. Mr. Casano has been recognized as a Nationally Certified Teacher of Music by the Music Teachers National Association and serves as the Hawaii representative for the National Music Certificate Program. Mr. Casano has served on the executive boards of the Hawaii Music Teachers Association and the Honolulu Piano Teachers Association. He has also taught at the University of Hawaii at Manoa.

Mr. Casano has taught at Punahou since 2001.

Dr. Takuma Itoh

Instructor (Music Composition)

Major teachers include Steven Stucky, Roberto Sierra, William Bolcom, Bright Sheng, and Pierre Jalbert. Featured among “100 Composers Under 40” on NPR Music, Dr. Itoh has been the recipient of numerous awards including the 2012 Charles Ives Scholarship from the American Academy of Arts and Letters, and four ASCAP Morton Gould Young Composer Awards. Dr. Itoh’s music has been performed by groups including the Albany Symphony, the New York Youth Symphony, the Shanghai Quartet, the St. Lawrence Quartet, violinist Joseph Lin, and the Syzygy Ensemble (Australia). In addition, his works can be heard on Albany and Blue Griffin Records, and is published by Theodore Presser and Resolute Music. Dr. Itoh is also currently on the faculty of the University of Hawaii in Manoa.

Dr. Itoh has taught at Punahou since 2013.
