Aloha mai kākou!

I had the pleasure of fulfilling the duty of the 24th reunion class by serving as “Imu Chief” for the class of 1993 at the 2017 Punahou Alumni Lū‘au. Reaching, connecting and engaging with classmates, some of which I had not seen since graduation 24 years prior, and working side by side with them on a common goal, was truly a transformative experience and one that will not be forgotten. Our hard work culminated on the evening of June 10, 2017, when I witnessed Punahou alumni enjoying the food, fellowship, and surrounding beauty of the Punahou School campus, all while being serenaded by Henry Kapono Ka‘aihue ’67.

Alumni Week and the Alumni Lū‘au remind us why Punahou is such a special place and is near and dear to so many of us. Thanks in large part to the support and vision of Dr. Jim Scott ’70, the Punahou trustees and the school administration, the Punahou Alumni Association (PAA) has been able to expand its outreach well beyond the borders of our beloved campus in Mānoa to regional chapters across the nation and internationally in Asia. These regional chapters have developed out of a simple desire to reach, connect and engage with other Punahou alumni who reside in the area, helping to keep that sense of place and that important connection to home.

As PAA continues to evolve into a more globalized entity, we encourage you to attend an event, volunteer with a regional chapter or make a new connection. With close to 30,000 Punahou alumni scattered across the globe, there are opportunities to engage both here in Hawai‘i and beyond. Please stay connected through the Punahou Alumni Relations office, by visiting the Punahou Alumni Association website, on social networks, through your classmates and reunion committees, or whatever means possible. We want to engage with you.

It is an honor and privilege to lead the PAA in 2017 – 2018, the organization’s 112th year. I look forward to reaching, connecting and engaging with as many of you as possible!

Me ka ha‘aha‘a,
