It’s reunion time again for alumni classes ending in 3 or 8. Excitement is building, and classmates are getting organized and recruiting volunteers for reunion committees.

Ninety alumni from the classes of 1948 – 2013 attended the annual “Reunite!” reunion event in Twigg-Smith Pavilion on Aug. 10. Both new and returning volunteers attended the event. For returning committee members, it was an opportunity to get reacquainted with each other and the Alumni Relations team. First-time volunteers were there to learn more about what is involved in participating on a reunion committee.

Many classmates used the evening as a jump start on Reunion. The 20th Class of 1998 filled three tables, while the 70th Class of 1948’s “Arcadia Gang” enjoyed each other’s company and the fact that they were the most senior alumni in attendance.

Oahu College Band put the crowd in a buff ‘n blue mood with five peppy songs, including “Band Jive,” a tune from the 1950s, while Director of Alumni Relations Doug Rigg ’84 thanked attendees and reaffirmed how important committee members are to creating a wonderful and memorable Reunion Week experience for classmates.

Classmates set the date for their first reunion meetings in September. Anyone who was not able to attend “Reunite!” is welcome to join their class at the first meeting. Email and postcard invitations will be sent to all alumni in classes ending in 3 or 8.

Alumni living away from Hawai‘i are encouraged to participate in their class committee meetings via Skype or conference call. There will also be two “Reunite!” reunion events on the East Coast in September. For more information, email or call the Office of Alumni Relations at 808.944.5740.
