Mālama Kumu in Aotearoa

April 1, 2015

Morning found the Malama Kumu in Mana Tamariki, a flagship Maori immersion school in Palmerston North, Aotearoa. Some of the crew were moved to tears upon their departure because they were so inspired by the campus, classrooms, gardens and kumu there. This connection came from Ruth Fletcher, dean of Professional Programs at Punahou. In addition to sharing aspects of Hokule‘a’s Worldwide Voyage with educators and students in Aotearoa, the Malama Kumu crew is learning about different ways to integrate sustainable principles into the Punahou curriculum.
