Mālama Kumu in Aotearoa

March 26, 2015

On Thursday, the Malama Kumu crew visited Hector Busby’s place in Tokerau, in northern Aotearoa. Uncle Hector, as he’s affectionately known, is a Maori navigator and traditional ship builder, and a legendary master of ancient Polynesian navigation techniques. The Malama Kumu took a group picture by a “waka” or traditional-style canoe, and Rianne can be seen walking back from the navigator’s circle on the hill.
